Midwife Led Antenatal Classes in Northampton & Daventry
My name is Laura, I have experience in antenatal, intrapartum (labour) and postnatal care. I currently work as a community midwife at a local hospital. I live in South Northamptonshire with my partner and our 5 year old son.
I believe that every woman deserves a positive and calm pregnancy and birth. Labour doesn’t have to be and shouldn’t be feared. Only too frequently do we find women and their birth partners feeling under prepared, with unrealistic expectations and disappointed with their experience, despite undertaking antenatal classes. This is why I am passionate about delivering and sharing my wealth of knowledge, educating and providing you with tools and techniques, guiding and supporting you throughout your journey.
Knowledge is power!
You wouldn’t run a marathon without nourishing the muscles that you’re using. I am here to support you and guide you to nourish those muscles. To give you the tools and techniques to have a positive and fearless labour and to support you to be your own advocate!
I had my son at the end of my midwifery degree and so decided I didn’t need to attend an antenatal course. I knew what to expect, I worked in that environment every day. I didn’t however take into consideration the support network I would have gained and that I actually missed out on. To be able to have someone at the other end of the phone, awake at 3am whilst you’re feeding, to text at any hour to check ‘is this normal?’. To go for coffee, to get out of the house, to attend baby groups together. Having a support network of people going through the same thing is valuable and something you will gain. You will arrive as strangers and leave as friends.
